Welcome to Latino Student Services
Latino Student Services seeks to support, guide, and empower students to build community and promote holistic social and academic success.
We provide family members of Latina/o students with bi-lingual resources and support. The Latino Student Services office engages with the Charlotte Latina/o community by collaborating with various community organizations to promote college access and awareness.
Our office is located in room 210 in the King Building, and I urge students to take advantage and come utilize our resources. We share the space with the SAFE program (Student Advising for Freshman Excellence), Women’s Programs, and Parent and Family Services. This shared office area has helped create an awesome space where student leaders from various backgrounds, cultures, identities, ages, and majors can all connect and support one another. Moreover, I believe that part of being a great student leader is being able to successfully balance academics, work, and campus involvement, so our office gives incoming new students the opportunity to connect and interact with our high achieving leaders in a risk free safe environment.
My name is Carlos Mendez, and I am the new Assistant Director for the Latino Student Services Office. I recently received my Masters in Higher Education Administration and Bachelors in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Attaining these degrees did not come easy, but my educational hardships and experiences are what make me very passionate about education and student empowerment. Furthermore, within this role I hope to work alongside the UNC Charlotte and Charlotte Latina/o community, to empower and motivate students to find and pursue their own passions. Carlos Mendez, Assistant Director for the Latino Student Services Office
Juntos podemos continuar mejorando nuestras familias y comunidad.
