Emily joined the New Student & Family Services office in May of 2013. Originally from Iowa, Emily spent four years at the University of Central Florida where she developed a passion for orientation, first year programs, student leadership development, and family engagement. Personally, Emily enjoys trying new recipes, reading novels, going to music festivals, visiting out-of-state friends and families, and spending time hiking with her husband and dog, Tillie.

Jordan joined the New Student & Family Services team in June of 2015. Originally from Georgia, Jordan attended the University of Georgia for both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, making him a Double Dawg. Prior to coming to UNC Charlotte, Jordan worked for three years with new student and transition programs at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. He is excited to continue to help 49er parents stay informed and engaged in their students’ college experience while at UNC Charlotte. In his spare time, Jordan enjoys watching great television, attending concerts and stage shows, spending time with friends and family and his dog, Ellie, a cairn terrier.

Amber Hoefer

Amber joined the NSFS team in April 2016. Prior to beginning at UNC Charlotte, Amber served as the Coordinator for Orientation Programs at Colorado State University (CSU), working with specialized orientation programs that included transfer, international, online, and extended orientation. Additionally, Amber is committed to engaging in conversations around difference and intertwining social justice into her professional practice. Amber completed her graduate work at Oregon State University where she received a Master of Education in College Student Services Administration and received her Bachelors of Arts in Communication Arts from the University of West Florida where she began developing her passion for serving new students transitioning into college. Beyond her professional positions, Amber spends most of her time exploring the outdoors and local breweries, taking long walks on the beach as well as training her dog and cat to do cool tricks... although the cat is at about a 50% success rate. She has a healthy relationship with Netflix and is currently trying learn how to bake from the Great British Baking Show.
