G.A.M.M.A.

GAMMA is a leadership program specifically for fraternity and sorority members who agree to be advocates to their chapter members. GAMMA members can lead the way for learning more about health and safety issues, and reduce some of the high-risk behaviors that can cause harm to individuals or to the chapter. GAMMA is about motivated fraternity and sorority members forming a peer education group that works as a team to identify high-risk student behavior and then creatively develops ways to educate members so that they can succeed at college and contribute in positive ways to the chapter.

This campus initiative is co-advised by the Center for Wellness Promotion and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Mission:

The mission of Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol (GAMMA) shall be the unique peer education group devoted to the pursuit of making a positive and safer environment for all. GAMMA is operated by Fraternity men and Sorority women of the IFC, PHA, NPHC, DGC, and Independent councils. If you choose to engage in the consumption of alcohol GAMMA will be available to offer suggestions on how to do so in a safer and smarter way. GAMMA will educate how alcohol can lead to riskier behaviors such as: unsafe sex, drug use, and hazing. GAMMA will set examples and break stereotypes by teaching skills to hold their brothers and sisters accountable by educating in a non judgmental and non-bias way.

Vision:

It is our vision to have an educated representative from each chapter of Greek life who is able to deal with peer issues involving the misuse and abuse of alcohol and other health/wellness topics. This representative acts as a resource within their organization to address these issues that the chapter may have. Many chapters have more than one G.A.M.M.A. member.

GAMMA Constitution:

As a UNC Charlotte student organization GAMMA has created an Organizational Constitution that guides the organization on ensuring its longevity. The Constitution also empowers and encourages students to carry out the various duties and programs it will develop to serve the UNC Charlotte Greek system.
