Interfraternity Council

The purpose of IFC:

  • Maintain a high level of fraternity and interfraternal relations
  • Further social and intellectual accomplishments
  • Cooperate with the University, administration, and community in the maintenance of high social standards
  • Improve and maintain relations between the fraternal organizations, and the community,  while aiming to maintain a positive relationship between all fraternities.

IFC continues to be a liaison between the Greek Community and UNC Charlotte.

How to Join an IFC Fraternity:
At the beginning of the fall and spring semesters, the Interfraternity Council holds its Formal Recruitment process. IFC Recruitment gives potential members the opportunity to meet members of each fraternity. The IFC Recruitment process is one of mutual selection: the fraternities decide which recruits they wish to invite into membership, and the recruits choose which fraternity they wish to join. Each organization will host individual recruitment events in various locations on campus and throughout the metropolitan area. Eating lunch together, playing sports, completing service projects, meeting alumni, viewing slide shows or video presentations, and just asking questions of fraternity members in a casual atmosphere are a few examples of things potential members might do during IFC Recruitment.  The formal process lasts one week and allows students the opportunity to explore Fraternity & Sorority Life without joining any particular fraternity. At the conclusion of recruitment, each fraternity extends “bids,” or offers of membership, to men that it wishes to be part of its organization.
